Childcare Fund Application Deadline Extended to October 21st.
Attention members with children! There has been some confusion regarding the CUPE 3903 Childcare Fund and we want to make sure everyone who is eligible for the fund applies! You must apply each fall in order to be included in the fall, winter, and summer disbursements of the fund – so even if you applied last year you need to re-apply again now.

CUPE National would like to hear members’ views and ideas on climate change. They have created a short climate change questionnaire (Word/docx file) to investigate how we view and perceive climate change in an effort to better understand actions that can be taken. The questionnaire takes 3-5 minutes to complete at most. Members are asked to download and complete it, and return it to Matthew Firth (Health, Safety & Environment, CUPE National).

York mistakenly applies levy to new members
Some members may have noticed that on their September 25th paycheque they were charged a special levy in addition to regular union dues. It appears the levy was applied to mainly new bargaining unit members. The levy was not requested by CUPE 3903.
When the union received the dues list and noticed the special levy had been charged we immediately reached out to Faculty Relations to resolve the issue. Payroll had already caught the error, but not until after paycheques went out. The payroll manager has confirmed that refunds have been requested, and should be “issued no later than the October 25th pay date.”
