The Collective Agreement includes a childcare subsidy ($50,000 allocated to each of the on-campus child care facilities – Lee Wiggins Childcare Centre and the York Co-Operative Day Care Centre).
These amounts are pooled among all applicants and amounts may vary. Reimbursement levels are determined by the number of eligible members applying for a subsidy in any given year.
To apply: This subsidy applies to these two facilities only. There is no deadline to apply. To do so, contact either on-campus child care facility directly. You will be required to provide proof of membership, such as your most recent contract or pay stubs).
Lee Wiggins Childcare Centre (LWCC):
CUPE 3903 and LWCC have a subsidy agreement that provides members a certain percentage off their childcare fees. Members must be the CUPE 3903 eligibility criteria for current or political membership, as outlined in Article 6. f) of the CUPE 3903 bylaws (“Any member whose employment terminates may maintain her membership for a period of twelve (12) months from the date of termination, and shall be considered a member in good standing”).
Members must provide a photocopy of their current or most recent teaching contract, or proof of current CUPE membership via email or mail.
CUPE subsidy amounts are subject to fluctuation, but typically range from 20% to 50% of monthly childcare costs. The number of CUPE users at LWCC and the amount of care they use will affect the amount of subsidy available. The CUPE subsidy will remain in effect as long as the CUPE subsidy funds are available and does not go below the $12.00 per day minimum as required from the Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care (CWELCC) system.
