The Trans Feminist Action Caucus (TFAC) is an autonomous body of CUPE 3903 that consists of all women, trans, gender queer and gender variant members of the Local.
TFAC works in coalition other relevant critical feminist organizations on campus in an effort to improve the position of all women, trans, gender queer and gender variant people at York University and within the labour movement. To this end, TFAC defines ‘sexism’ to include any type of gender or sex based discrimination or oppression. With this we also recognize that other factors such as race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed, sexual orientation, age, marital status, family status and/or ability, may exacerbate discrimination on the basis of sex. For the 2018-2019 term, Siobhán Saravanamuttu and Tanya Da Sylva were elected by the TFAC Membership as TFAC Co-Chairs on the CUPE 3903 Executive.
TFAC General Meeting – Friday, January 18th, 11 am – 1:30 pm in Atkinson 109 (Harry Crowe Room)
At this meeting we will be electing two elections officers to oversee the election of the TFAC Co-chairs for the 2019-2020 year.
We’ll also be discussing Sexual Assault Survivor Support Fund next steps in light of the arbitrator’s decision and reviewing proposed Trans Fund Committee bylaw changes. Members wished to bring forward these proposed bylaw changes to the general membership in time for the AGM. The bylaw changes are meant to ensure consistent honoraria funding and will not alter the fund itself. As well we continue to accept nominations from members who wish to work on the Sexual Assault Policy Working Group.
All trans, woman identified, gender queer and gender variant CUPE 3903 members are members of TFAC and are welcome to join TFAC meetings. If you have any questions, or would like something on the agenda, or have any accommodation needs please get in touch with the TFAC Co-chairs at email@example.com.
