Executive Committee Elections

The upcoming executive committee election period will launch on February 14th! For a list of executive positions, please see CUPE 3903 Executive Committee*.

The election timeline will be as follows:
Nomination period: February 14th – February 28th
Campaign period: March 1st – March 15th
Voting (via SimplyVoting): March 16th – March 21st

When the election launches on February 14th, the nomination form will be live (available on the CUPE 3903 website and in the newsletter). Members running for a position need to have the support of two members in good standing. For unit-specific positions, the supports must be from the voting unit.

*Note, TFAC co-chairs are elected by the members of TFAC through an independent election run by the TFAC election officers

February GMM (February 11th, 2021) – Tentative Agenda

The next GMM will be held on February 11th, 2021 from 1:00–4:00 pm. At this GMM, we will be voting on bylaw amendments and donation requests, as well as discussing bargaining. All members are encouraged to attend.

Nominations Open for Two Delegates to go to the OUWCC Conference – Deadline February 11th at Noon

CUPE 3903 is sending two delegates to the Ontario University Workers’ Coordinating Committee (OUWCC) Virtual Conference.

Any members who wish to nominate themselves can email Stacey Berquist, Chief Steward Unit 1. Nominations will close on February 11th at Noon.
If more than two members nominate themselves, an election will be held at the February 11th GMM.

Report Back: Tenth Bargaining Meeting with the Employer on January 29th (1pm)

On Friday January 29th, the CUPE 3903 Bargaining Team met with the Employer. The Bargaining Team would like to thank members in the room for attending as observers, as per our open bargaining practice.

During our January 28th bargaining meeting, we responded to the Employer’s proposal framework from January 22, 2021. Read the Bargaining Team’s statement here. Given the Employer’s lack of engagement with the concrete proposals in our December 14, 2020 extension framework, we proposed to involve mediator Chris Albertyn to mediate the conversation around job security, starting with the Union’s Albertyn Appointments proposal, and possibly to include other Unit 2 job security proposals.
