(1) Picket Shift at Queen’s Park TOMORROW

Our latest information indicates that the government will pass a motion to limit debate on back-to-work legislation, placing the projected date for the legislation passing for Wednesday, July 25. Accordingly, there will be two picket lines tomorrow, one at Queen’s Park and one at Northwest Gate, both from 10 am to 2 pm.

(2) Strike Hardship Fund Update

The Strike Hardship Fund will accept applications for 4 days after the strike ends from Unit 1 and Unit 3 members.

If you already submitted your application, we asked you for additional information prior to July 23 and you do not provide it by the final deadline, your file will be closed and you will not receive funds.

As 8th Line members committed to the union and the strike, we want to work to ensure eligible members receive funds. At the same time, we need to wrap the fund up so, like you, we can return to our pre-strike lives.

(3) Nominate Yourself for Elections Officer

The general elections will have to be held soon after the strike ends. This means that the two Elections Officers positions need to be filled, as there is one vacancy and the other EO will be out of town for the rest of the summer.

Read the full post for more information and how to nominate yourself.

(5) IATSE Local 58 Workers Locked Out by the CNE

Stagehand workers represented by IATSE Local 58 have been locked out by Exhibition Place on Friday, July 20. A main reason for the lock-out is the employer’s insistence on concessions, specifically to limit the jurisdiction and amount of work done by these workers.

Follow IATSE Local 58 on Facebook for updates. We are working on organizing a CUPE 3903 solidarity picket.
