(1) No Change in Health Benefits for Striking Members

On Tuesday, June 5, the employer posted a letter sent to CUPE National regarding payment of benefits for CUPE 3903 members on strike. CUPE National had pre-paid three months starting March 5. The cheque for the month of June has been sent. All members should rest assured that they are free to keep using their benefits.

(2) Picket Line Childcare

The 8th Line is planning child care on the picket lines to include parent members who would like to do picket work but do not have a formal child care arrangement.

(3) Pet Food Donations Available at HQ

CUPE 3903 received a generous donation of both cat food and dog food that can be distributed to members if they are in need of pet food. The pet food is available for pick up at Strike Headquarters during regular hours. We would like to thank Rhonda Doucette for thinking of our furry friends and providing such a thoughtful donation.

CUPE 3903 Members and members of the York University community seeking information can call the CUPE 3903 Hotline (select hours only).

Hotline hours are updated every week and posted to 3903.cupe.ca.

Strike Committee is the main coordinating body for all things strike-related at CUPE 3903. Ideas for picket line strategy? Targets or ideas for creative actions? Want to coordinate some guerrilla communications, flyers, or other media? Strike Committee is the place to do so!

There will be another Strike Committee meeting on Thursday June 14, details TBA.

(7) Unfair Labour Practice Hearing: June 13

The hearing regarding the Unfair Labour Practice (ULP) complaint filed against York University, as well as the one that was filed by the employer, will take place at the Ontario Labour Relations Board on Wednesday, June 13, beginning at 9:30 am in the 2nd floor boardroom. We do not yet know how long the hearing will take. It may continue over several days.

(8) Strike General Membership Meeting: June 13

Following the strike policy, Strike GMMs are held weekly for the duration of the strike. The agenda will include reports from the Executive, Treasurer, Bargaining Team, Strike Committee, as well as time for motions from the floor.

Meet at the Ministry of Labour

On June 16, let’s show Doug Ford that Ontario will not allow our new labour laws to be rolled back and that we will fight to improve what we’ve won. We will start at the Ministry of Labour (400 University Avenue) then march to Queen’s Park.

This rally is co-hosted by the Ontario Federation of Labour and the Fight for $15. It is an opportunity for the labour movement to show a united front.

Labour of Love: A Fundraiser in Support of CUPE 3903!

This fundraiser, hosted by Erin Brockobić, will feature performances, door prizes, a silent auction, and games! The location is wheelchair accessible. Doors open at 5:30 pm.
