Lee Wiggins Childcare Centre Full- and Part-time Spaces Available
Lee Wiggins Childcare Centre offers a 35% subsidy for all CUPE 3903 members whose children use the Centre. This subsidy was established and has been augmented as a result of the Union’s negotiations with the employer across numerous rounds of bargaining. There are still full- and part-time spaces available for the spring and summer 2019 terms, and the Centre is now also accepting enrolments for the fall-winter 2019-20 academic terms.
Next Executive Meeting is on April 3rd

Where: 320 Bethune College
This meeting will be dedicated mainly to transitioning in the new Executive Officers. A large portion of the meeting will be confidential discussions that general members cannot participate in (in-camera procedure).

2019 TFAC Co-Chair Election Results
Congratulations to Susannah Mulvale and Kelsey Ioannoni who have been elected TFAC Co-Chairs for 2019-2020!
York Arbitrarily Redefines Existing Settlement Language
York is denying members increases to vacation pay by arbitrarily adding terms to the existing settlement language. In bargaining, the employer clearly agreed that members with more than 5 years of service would receive 6% vacation pay. York has now arbitrarily decided that this applies only to those with more than 5 continuous years of service, leaving many of our members without their entitled vacation increases.
PDF Coordinator Vacancy
The position of PDF Coordinator will be vacant as of March 31st 2019. If you are interested in nominating yourself for the role, please email Stacey at cupe3903vpu1@gmail.com by Monday, April 15th. Please note the position will be effective until the September 2019 GMM, at which point the whole committee will be up for election.
York Fails to Implement Increase in Vacation Pay for Many Members
York promised the vacation pay increase (and the retroactive increase) from 4% to 6% for members with more than 5 years of service was to be included no later than the March paycheques.
It has become apparent that the increase was not properly implemented by payroll; some members who were eligible were paid the current and retroactive increases, others were denied funds they were owed!
Members with more than 5 years of service should have seen both the 2% increase in vacation pay and the payment for a retroactive increase that could go as far back as September 2017.
If you have more than 5 years of service and did not receive retroactive vacation pay as a lump sum in a separate line in this month’s paycheque (some members were also paid in February), please email your Chief Steward (cupe3903csu1@gmail.com; cupe3903chiefstewardunit2@gmail.com; cupe3903csu3@gmail.com) or the Grievance Officer (cupe3903go@gmail.com) with that information.
