Complete the E-Voting Working Group Survey

The e-voting survey that was circulated the week of Feb. 3rd had to be discontinued due to an inadvertent error with the formatting. The survey has been re-mounted below and is now available (Feb. 10th). Thank you to those members who took the time to fill out the survey; our apologies for the inconvenience, but if you have already done the survey, we would appreciate if you could fill out the new survey. The survey will be available until the end of the day March 2nd.

February GMM (February 10th) Tentative Agenda

Our next GMM will be February 10th from 12:30pm – 3:30pm in Norman Bethune’s (Bethune 203). Free food and TTC tokens will be available! At this GMM, we will be voting bylaw amendments, as well as donation requests. All members are encouraged to attend.

CUPE 3903 Office Closed Until Monday, January 27th

The CUPE 3903 Office will remain closed for the rest of the week.

Thursday morning our door was smashed in. No one was in the office; no one was hurt and nothing appears to have been taken. Security responded and police have started an investigation. At the moment police are treating the incident as mischief.

The damage to the front door is being repaired but the office will remain closed until Monday.

Thank you to all members who have reached out with support.

Delegates Needed for OUWCC Conference: February 20 – 23

Two members are needed to serve as voting delegates for the Ontario University Workers Coordinating Committee Conference being held February 20 – 23 in Markham (transportation to Markham is not be provided). The OUWCC is a committee within CUPE Ontario that serves to unite and represent the needs of University workers in locals across the province.

Multiple Committee Vacancies Up for By-election

Members can nominate themselves for vacancies in the following committees (1 vacancy each): Joint Health and Safety Committee, Distribution Committee, Employment Equity Committee, and Communications Committee. There is also one opening for a Forum Moderator.

Nominations will be accepted via email to Stacey Berquist, VP Unit 1 at cupe3903vpu1@gmail.com by Monday, January 27th. Contested positions will be voted on at the February GMM.

CUPE 3903 in Solidarity with Wet’suwet’en Land Defenders

At the January GMM, members voted to stand in solidarity with Wet’suwet’en land defenders and all those who oppose the violent cycles of settler colonization.

The Wet’suwet’en First Nation has never ceded their traditional territory to the Canadian state, nor its corporations, and their Aboriginal title has never been extinguished across the land that they continue to occupy today. The Wet’suwet’en First Nation remain stewards of their sovereign territory in the interior of so-called British Columbia. Yet they now face increased militarization on their territories as private and crown corporations attempt to build the Coastal GasLink pipeline (CGL) without consent of the Wet’suwet’en people.
