General Committee Election Nominations Now Open

It is time for our annual committee elections!

All committees play a significant role in our local, contributing enormously to the smooth functioning of our union. This ranges from the daily work of reaching out to members, advocating on their behalf in various capacities, adjudicating different funds available to the membership, and connecting the local to the broader labour movement taking place municipally, provincially and federally.

The local would not function without the amazing work that committee members have done and continue to do. Please consider joining a committee or two! The nomination period will end on August 14, 5 pm. Please send your nominations, and a brief statement if you wish, to Michael (VP Unit 3) at cupe3903vpu3@gmail.com. The election will take place during the Annual General Meeting.

General Election and Unit 4 Bargaining Team Elections Re-Open

Nominations for the executive committee general elections opened on February 22 but were suspended on March 5 because of the strike. Nominations are now re-opened until Wednesday, August 1, at 4 pm. Elections for the Unit 4 (part-time librarians and archivists) bargaining team follow the same schedule.

Candidates must fill out a nomination form, available at the CUPE 3903 Strike Headquarters (45 Four Winds Dr, Unit Q-1), as the move back to Atkinson is scheduled for Thursday August 2. The members who sign the nomination form must also belong to that unit. All other positions are open to all four units.

Once the nomination period closes, there will be two weeks of campaigning, which will end at the Annual General Meeting on August 15, where voting opens. Voting will continue for five days after the AGM.
