(1) York Still Refuses to Bargain & Senate Debacle
There is still no indication that the York University administration is willing to come back to the bargaining table. Feel free to let the President and administration know that, as stated by Premier Wynne, the “best agreements come from the bargaining table”.
Senate held a special meeting on Thursday March 8. However, the motion to suspend classes was ruled out of order, and the challenge to the Chair lost by a single vote. A good unofficial summary of the meeting can be found here.
(2) Mobile De-escalation on the Picket Lines
Safe and effective picket lines are our priority! Therefore, for those who did not have the chance to attend one of the three de-escalation trainings held before the strike, there will be mobile de-escalation workshops moving from line to line this coming week.
Remember: if you do not feel equipped to de-escalate a particular situation, walk away and inform a picket captain, picket coordinator, or call Campus Security.
(3) New Strike Info: Pay Issues & Headquarters
We continue to update the Strike Info tab as more information becomes available.
There is new information on what to do if you have problems with the sign-in terminal, or there are discrepancies in your strike pay, which can be found on the Strike Pay page.
There is also a new page with everything you need to know about Strike Headquarters.
