What is Strike Headquarters?
Strike Headquarters is the office of CUPE 3903 while picket lines are up at York University campuses. The daily activities of conducting the strike and any strike-time business of the local is carried out at Strike HQ.
What is essential to know about Strike Headquarters?
Strike Headquarters is a dynamic environment, where CUPE 3903 staff, executive, strike coordinators, bargaining team, 8th line and other members are working on making sure everything runs smoothly during the strike. If you arrive at Strike HQ looking for assistance or information, please be patient with whomever you encounter as there is a high-volume of work during the day. Keep in mind that routine matters, such as cheque pick-up, will take longer during strike-time.
Strike Headquarters is a scent-free work environment. It has an accessible washroom. The HQ entrance, and necessary mall entrances/exits, are now accessible as well. There is limited space and limited seating.
Why might I go to Strike Headquarters?
Any member on a picket line who needs an extended rest can radio Strike Coordinators (through their Picket Captain) to be picked up. Strike Headquarters is where that member will be taken to rest.
Strike HQ also has Wi-Fi (log-in and password posted in multiple places in the space) available for members to perform strike-related duties.
8th Line Members may perform their CUPE National-approved Strike Duties at Strike HQ.
Any members who have capacity to help out before or after their picket shift are welcome to attend Strike HQ and ask any Strike Coordinator how they can help.
