November meetings - covering: the passing of Bill 115 by the Government of Ontario. This legislation removes the right of employees (teachers, support-staff, custodial-staff, & clerical-staff) of the various school board's to collectively bargain. Further, there is now draft legislation titled "The Protecting Public Services Act" which would do the same for other public-sector workers in Ontario, including university workers. If passed, this legislation would allow the government of Ontario to change, impose and even rollback any language in the collective agreement.
Please see the following - readable version of the flyer - for more information.
Other tasks you can work on in the meantime: recruit members in your department for a departmental mobilizing committee (DMC) to help organize department meetings and get folks out to membership meetings; build a departmental phone tree.
