Several Bylaw Amendments Passed at the April GMM

At the April GMM (April 17, 2019) several bylaw amendments were voted on. All bylaw amendments passed and will now be sent to CUPE-National for approval. A brief description of the amendments and the results are below.

Bylaw Amendment: Article 10 (Committees – Accessibility Committee). This bylaw amendment raised the honoraria to $500 per year per position. In Favour – 25; Opposed – 0; Abstentions – 2.

Bylaw Amendment: Article 10 (Committees). This bylaw amendment added the Trans Fund committee to Article 10 and clarified the role, and responsibilities of the Trans Fund Committee. In Favour – 26; Opposed – 0; Abstentions – 1.

Bylaw Amendment: Article 11 (Trans Feminist Action Caucus and the Trans Caucus). This bylaw amendment clarified the role of TFAC in overseeing the election of the Trans Fund Committee. In Favour – 26; Opposed – 0; Abstentions – 1.

Bylaw Amendment: Article 9.1 (Officers). This bylaw amendment allows the Chairperson or Grievance Officer to act as a designate for Unit 3 for the purposes of quorum. This amends the bylaw which already allows the Chairperson or Grievance officer to act as a designate for Unit 4. In Favour – 24; Opposed – 0; Abstentions – 3.

Bylaw Amendment: Appendix G (Donations Policy). This bylaw amendment makes clear that the donations policy applies solely to the ‘Donations’ and ‘Solidarity Fund’ budget lines within the Main Operating Account. In Favour – 25; Opposed – 1; Abstentions – 1.
