In an effort to preserve our union’s history, the CUPE 3903 Archives Committee is in the process of collecting and organizing the union’s archives. As part of this process, we are inviting former and current members, as well as other members of the community who have any material related to the union, to donate their material in an effort to construct our archives and help preserve CUPE 3903’s institutional memory.

What kind of stuff are you looking for?
The list is long, but here are some examples of documents that we are interested in:

  • Newsletters, flyers, pamphlets, etc.
  • Posters (including those related to union elections, such as candidate posters, etc.)
  • Photos
  • Newspaper clippings
  • T-shirts, bandanas, flags, etc.

I’d like to keep my stuff. Do you need the original copy?
Although original copies are preferred, we are also very glad to take photocopies of any documents. You can also scan them and email us copies of your documents. If you have anything that can’t be copied and prefer not to part with it, we can also accept pictures of the material.

What will this be used for?
Anything you donate will be added to CUPE 3903’s archives, which are currently being organized by the Archives Committee. We are currently working on creating an index of all of the material in our possession. Once this is complete, we will work to ensure that the material remains accessible to members – former and current – as well as to any researchers who would like to use our collection in their work.

This sounds great! How can I get my stuff to you?
If you have any paper documents, you can either bring it by the union office (143 Atkinson), or mail it to us. If you are sending us a scanned copy of a paper document or photo, you can send it through email. Our full contact information is available below.
